Enrolling more than 60 percent of the undergraduates at Rutgers–Newark,
Newark College of Arts and Sciences (NCAS) is the largest school
on campus. With majors in almost 40 fields, the curricula at NCAS
combine the advantages of a liberal arts foundation with the specialized
training necessary for a specific career.
Founded:
In 1930 as a division of the University of Newark, which became
part of Rutgers University in 1946.
Enrollment: 3,700 undergraduates; 44% men, 56% women.
Residency: 10% on campus, 90% off campus.
Housing: Facilities for 450 undergraduate residents in
suites.
Faculty: NCAS students are taught by the Faculty of Arts
and Sciences, NCAS Business majors are also taught by the Faculty
of the Rutgers Business School.
